I have broad research interests that cover the areas of landscape ecology, applied remote sensing and geospatial analysis. My research activities focus on: i) the use of Earth Observation data for modeling terrestrial habitats;; ii) analyses of landscape change trajectories and their effects on the ecological structure, and iii) the development of spatially explicit indicators for ecosystem services modelling. I am also active in the policy for conservation discussion. Previous research focused on the analysis of land use change in protected areas, the evaluation of landscape connectivity and fragmentation in highly intervened environments, EO-based methodologies for riparian zones mapping, carbon mapping using VHR data, and fire modelling.
I love photography, hiking, and travelling in remote locations.
2022-present: PhD student in Natural Sciences- Universidad del Rosario
2018: M.Sc Environmental Sciences- U.D.C.A
2012: B.Sc. Geographical and Environmental Engineering - U.D.C.A
Research interests in landscape ecology, ecological connectivity, biomodeling, ecosystem services and participatory mapping. The research I'd like to develop is related to the use of remote sensing for spatio-temporal analysis of fragile ecosystems such as tropical dry forests and Andean forests, to identify patterns of change, connectivity and ecosystem services.
I love playing softball, mountain hiking, running marathons, reading mystery books and baking.
2016-present: PhD student in Natural Sciences- Universidad del Rosario
2011: M.Sc. Biological Sciences. University of the Andes, Bogotá.
2005: B.Sc. Biology. Universidad de los Andes, Bogotá
My work is focused on the development of robust and innovative methods, which integrates information from latest generation remote sensing sensors and local information for forests monitoring.
Biologist with 15 years of experience in spatial analysis where he has led research focused on the modeling of species distribution, functional and structural connectivity, geostatistics, modeling and optimization, remote sensing and design and implementation of systems for coverage monitoring / uses, forests and wetlands. His work is focused on relevant issues of environmental management in Colombia where he has integrated scientific work networks, local communities and institutions in the process of development and application of analytical methods and use of technologies in a collaborative way. Currently, PhD candidate in Biological and Biomedical Sciences and multiple collaboration projects with the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and NASA NSPIRES.
Cycling, running, outdoors, music, and BBQ.
2019: M.Sc. Environmental Engineering, University of Antioquia (COL)
2016: B.Eng. Environmental Engineering, University of Antioquia (COL)
My research topics are focused on global environmental changes. Specifically, I am studying the causes of tropical deforestation by means of EO data and Earth Engine cloud computing.
My hobbies are reading, skating, swimming, hiking and playing guitar.
2018-present: PhD student in Natural Sciences- Universidad del Rosario
2017: Pg.DIP, Geographic Information Systems, Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas (COL)
2014: B.Sc., Ecology, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana (COL)
I am interested in landscape ecology, particularly land use/ land cover changes, their drivers and their effects in ecosystem services provision. In general, I am interested into applying remote sensing and geospatial tools for ecological studies. Currently, I am studying land use/land cover changes in and around protected areas during post-conflict in Colombia, and the impacts to the water cycle.
I like reading, playing video games, hiking and playing tennis
2022: M.Sc. Law and Environmental Management, Universidad del Rosario (COL) 2021: Sp. Environmental Law, Universidad del Rosario (COL) 2016: B.Eng., Environmental Engineering, Universidad Santo Tomas (COL)
Environmental Engineer with and Master's Degree in Law and Environmental Management with knowledge in integrated solid waste management, climate change, and marine-coastal pollution, among others. I have more than 4 years of work experience in Colombia's public and private sectors and 2 years as a researcher in different national and international projects in Europe and in South America. My research interests focus on marine pollution, the impact of climate change on coastal-marine ecosystems, and analysis of coastal-marine ecosystem services for the reduction of vulnerability to adverse effects of climate change.
I love to travel and visit any place with sea, diving, read and walk in natural spaces.
